Locksmith Position at Capital Lock, Madison, WI
Capital Lock, a leading commercial locksmith in Southern Wisconsin, is seeking a Field Locksmith or Locksmith Apprentice to join our team in downtown Madison. With a reputation for knowledgeable and skilled staff, Capital Lock is growing fast and needs another talented locksmith to perform on-site jobs and shop duties. We offer complete on-the-job training, so no experience is necessary. However, we’re looking for someone who is mechanically skilled, detail-oriented, and an independent worker.
Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair door hardware
- Work with customers in the field to diagnosis problems and professionally explain to customers how to fix them
- Performing field and shop duties duties, such as key cutting, key stamping, inventory, and rekeying
- Manage time and schedule to make sure tasks are being completed on time and efficiently
- Installing new door hardware, including door closers, push bars, and hardware sets
- Thinking critically through situations to fix and solve problems
Education:
- Minimum – High School diploma or equivalent
Work Experience:
- Preferred – 3-5 year experience in the facilities or maintenance industry
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Safety skills
- Advanced understanding of power tools
- Ability to present oneself in a professional manner
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload to complete projects with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion
- Ability to walk and be on their feet most of the day
- Ability to repeatedly go from standing to kneeling position
- Ability to work in a loud environment
- Ability to operate power tools
Work Schedule:
- Hours are normal business hours from 8:30-5:00
- No holidays, weekends, or overtime is required
Wage:
- $15-30 per hour, depending on experience
